Popular actress and TV host Guo Mei-chu (郭美 珠) has filed a police report. She suspects that her Indonesian family care worker, who has left Taiwan, may be responsible for the disappearance of jewelry in her home safe.
According to police investigation, the actress, her husband and an Indonesian female care worker live together at a mansion in Songshan District, Taipei. However, because Guo in southern Taiwan often shoots movies, it’s usually just her husband and the Indonesian woman in the house.
In January, Guo discovered that NT$7 million ($252,000) worth of jewelry in the safe was missing, so she reported the matter to the Taipei City Police Department.
Police said the Indonesian caretaker was a suspect in the jewelry loss as there was no sign of a burglar breaking into the residence and only Guo, her husband and the caretaker knew the safety code.
The Taipei police referred the case to prosecutors, who reviewed the data regarding the Indonesian woman’s departure from the country and informed the Indonesian police about the incident. However, the person who reported the incident will have to file a lawsuit against the Indonesian woman before Indonesian police can officially open an investigation into the incident.
